The Nordic Game Project, which distributes funds to notable games made by Nordic developers, has announced that eight new games have been awarded a portion of the Nordic Game Project’s DKK 2.5 million during this 2nd quarter funding period. Six games currently in development have received funds that vary between DKK 300,000(roughly 60,000 USD) to DKK 500,000(roughly 100,000 USD) this year. Also two other developers have had DKK 100,000 distributed to them to assist them in improving their games for a review whereupon these two developers will resubmit their games to the Nordic Game Project for review during the 2008 fiscal year.
The games who have been awarded funds by the Nordic Game Project are:
1.Tarsier Studios AB (Sweden) – DKK 600,000 for “The City of Metronome”
Designed for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 the game’s auditory based design received good reviews but the novel design resulted in little funding.
2.Digital Out A/S (Denmark) – DKK 500,000 for “Asteroid Cowboys”
This game was designed for the XBLA and would allow players to take control of a cowboy who could use his lasso to ensnare asteroids and features both single and multiplayer modes.
3.Frecle I/S (Denmark) – DKK 300,000 for “Youropa”
A gravity bending puzzle game where players, as a member of the “Yuropean” race, attempt to save the world from beings known only as Onesiders.
4.UOVO ApS (Denmark) – DKK 300,000 for “Willinilli”
An online children’s game that teaches children how to use creativity and problem solving to solve puzzles.
5.Funkis Multimedia AB (Sweden) – DKK 300,000 for “Fishing in Sweden”
An online game wherep layers get to test their lures in fishing hole all over Sweden by using a variety of different fishing methods.
6.Secret Exit Oy (Finland) – DKK 300,000 for “Cinnamon Beats”
A musical game that uses kitchen utensils, musical instruments and other tools that allow players to create various musical pieces that can be used against other players.
